Eagle button - date and type?

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone had a good button ID site that they could share, or perhaps know what type of button this is> I don't think it's Civil War era, possibly shortly afterwards? Also, is it a certain branch or the armed services? (the third pic is just to show you that the back is just one lump of iron, nothing to ID on that side)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jai

btw, does anyone know the official term to use to describe either the "leaves" that are in the eagles claws, or the logo/slogan/banner above the eagles head for the eagle button I found? I'm having a horrible time googling it.

Jaichim, for what it's worth, I looked through Albert's "record of American Uniform and historical buttons" and was unable to find it listed there. Good luck researching it.

yeesh, thanks for looking, perhaps it's just a partiotic civilian button. Would love to know what type of leaves those are supposed to be. I also saw another button a while back with a similar shaped banner above the eagle, with a motto on it. Of course now that I want to find it, I can't!

The great seal of U.S. has "olive branch" and arrows But your button does not look like arrows.
The "motto" above would read E pluribus unum .

hi jaichim. i don't think this is a military issue button. i believe it's civilian made. nowhere have i ever seen a u.s. military button with twin oak leaves in the eagle's claws and that shape or even type of banner over the eagle's head. cool find, though! hh!
