Eagle back button, ID help needed

Mike in Ky

New member
I found this solid flat one piece button yesterday in the same field I've been hunting for the last few months. The backmark is Warranted Treble Gilt. It has an Eagle around the shank holding 1 arrow in one claw and a olive branch in the other. It also has 3 stars across the bottom. There is nothing on the front of the button. Any ideas on this one ? Most of the other buttons I've found here have been back from the early 1800's.

Hi Mike; We encounter this style on occasion but I have no idea of who made it. Warranted relates to "quality." Treble Gilt refers to having been gold plated three times which is stating their buttons won't loose their plating easily. As far as I know these are civilian buttons with no particular military affiliation. However, Confederate troops used all one piece buttons for most of the war out of necessity. Good hunting, David
