E Trac

I have been using a Garrett GTI 2500 for the last several years on land locked terrain. Last year I used the 2500 on Tybee Island, Ga. beach with some success with a couple of rings (cheap o's and numerous coins etc.) I have a friend that is an avid MineLab user and has 3 of them. Last year he had just purchased an Explorer SE and the amount of jewelry he found was outstanding to say the least. I have been reading all the good reports about MineLab and just ordered the E-Trac. Can you guys give me some honest comparisons between the two. I love the 2500 and have found coins up to 12 inches deep including a Buffalo Nickel at that depth in hard,dry compacted red gravel. I am looking forward in getting the E-Trac and finding time to use it.

bcoop, I have had my E-Trac since before Christmas and feel that I know the machine pretty well. I've been MD'ing for over 30 years and like yourself, have been using Garretts exclusively.

In addition to great depth, the E-Trac stands out in it's ability to separate the trash from the treasure. The first day I had mine, I took it to an old yard that I had absolutely hunted to death with my Garrett. The very first coin I found was an 1835 Draped Bust Half Dime in EF40 condition. The tiny silver coin was 9" deep and laying beside some iron scrap. The E-Trac utilizes Full Band Spectrum technology with 28 separate frequencies, and because of this, was able to sing on the silver on one frequency even though the iron was nulling on a different frequency. In my opinion, the E-Trac is the best detector on the market today.

Get Andy's book and read it thoroughly. Start in the factory coin program with automatic sensitivity. So easy a caveman can do it. If you know how to listen to tones, there's no way you will walk past a coin.

Now i have the E-Trac for about 4 months. My previous detector was a GTI2500.
I'm very happy with it, the E-trac is more well balanced, is lighter, and the deep is someting else.
If i have to give a note i will say:

GTI 2500 --- 10/20
E-TRAC --- 18/20

For me this is the best machine in the market

I have had mine since October. I have been hunting for over 40 years and this is the best detector I have ever used. Get Andy's Book. It will help you a lot. I have found 2 Large Cents with mine and several silver coins from site that I have hunted to death. This machine is good for relics as well. It is very easy to learn. I would suggest that you get a Sunray X-1 Probe for this machine, as it well help in faster recoveries so you will have more time to dig more good targets. Yo will love this machine. When you get you book, go to page 181, "Gallery Of Finds." section and you will see my First day & second day Finds with this machine. I hope this will help. HH...Jesse.

I used Garretts for 9 years and have been using minelab for just over a year and wouldnt look back.The Etrac is arguably the best multi frequency machine on the market and when mastered is phenomenal.It has found allready many thousands of valuable artifacts and coins in the uk and will continue to do so.I used all the garretts extensivly and whites too and would never look back to the again.
