E Trac vs E trac

Hey all you E trac users,

Could you take a min to tell me what one thing you like best about your E trac and One thing you like least about it?
Id appreciate your take but please keep it limited to the two opposing questions...I know some of ya are cuddling up with it at night and its just too much information for me.

Thanks for any reply,
utahshovelhead.

What I like most it is very stable and deep. What I like least I wish I could swing it faster for scouting CW camps.

What I dislike is the weather cover you cant hardly see thru it..... and this is what I like the best, over 10"

I like the stability in and its ability to work trashy sites. There is not much for me to dislike ( as of now) but I guess the screen angle is a bit off. I wish that it was angled a bit further back to help with glare. The zagg protector is a great product to negate this flaw, though.

JohnTN have you tried a fast sweep speed very much? I swing mine quite fast hunting old deep coins with good results and when I hit a hot spot I slow down a little unless it is getting dark, Ray.
Quiet deep seperation & screen glare in bright sunlight.

Hi Ray-Mo, In my experience with the Etrac you can hunt a bit faster if your looking for shallow targets. I find that if you swing as you would a Whites or Nauti, you lose lower conductives like buttons and small lead that are deeper that say 4" all together.
This may just be in Tennessee soil though.

What I like best is the fact that the overall package has found me coins in places I've hit with other machines and missed.

What I like least is the fact that the depth reading is not consistent for all coil sizes; i.e. if you use a small coil the depth reading will be different than for the stock.

Just my 2 cents your milage may vary your opinion will be different hh

That's true for most detectors on the market. Are there exceptions?

Garrett advertises that their GTI 2500 gives correct readings for all coils from what I recall. Only exception I know of, though there may be others.

It would be nice if it gave the same scale reading no matter the coil, was my point, regardless of whether other machines do the same thing. You asked for what I liked most and least, so having to pick choices, those are mine. Opinions are like a-holes ya know, everyone has one and they all stink :) HH

I like the comfort factor much better to use than the badly balanced Explorer. What I dont like the target Id is not as accurate as the Explorer. The bigger screen area makes coins come out with a bigger assortment of numbers. On the Explorer a coin will come out as say 7-26 to 7-27 on the Etrac the same coin will come out as 12-36. 37 ,38 ,or 39 if deep will come out a 12, 13, 14,15 ,or even 16 ferrous but the conductivity number wont vary as much, unless the coin is on edge then the number varies dramatically. I have nearly paid off my Etrac in finds of coins so I have been succesful with it but the target digital ID is poor.seeya Neilo

I like that the auto sens feature really works well, keeps the detector going deep.

I wish it had the full screen option like the explorer series, for me its easier on my eyes and makes up a bit for the poor contrast.

Like: Multi tones, smartscreen, discrim patterns.... just all the adjustments to match the conditions and one's personal taste, and it finds the deep stuff.

Dislikes: Arm rest is flimsy-cheap and V shaped, hand grip is a dirt magnet and hard to clean.
