So I have come to the conclusion that the E-trac is pretty much an amazing detector, and I have been spending to much of my time chasing those iffy deep hits.. I have dug my fare share of deep nails.. I was digging every deep chirp that that gave me a hit from two direction and coming up empty handed. Today started off the same.. Digging those deep nails. To be honest I haven't dug any DEEP coins with my E-trac.. As in deep i am talking 10+ inches.. That was until today. I finally came across a deep solid hit. I circled the target and got the signal from every directions.. It's hard to explain.. It was a soft signal.. But completely different than all those deep nails I was digging! I opened up a big plug and dug down... and dug some more... Pretty soon i reach a big old square nail. I was completely discouraged, I pulled the nail and put the probe in and got a hit Right from under the nail I pulled out a nice little token.. I have never seen one before.. But it said Billie Walters across the top, Eaton on the bottom, and 5cents in the middle. After that I wondered around in the same area.. and pulled another 4 tokens that said the same thing.. Everyone of them with some kind of junk in the hole, and everyone of them was a great repeatable signal.. I also was able to pull out a neat little silver horse pin, a few wheats, a big old silver ring, and a nice little Merc that was half way to china as Bryce would say! HAHA The Merc came out almost black from being so deep in wet ground.. Today's hunt was very exciting and I feel like something clicked and I really figured the machine out! I was spending all that time digging those nails listening for the wrong signal... Every deep coin i dug, I knew was a coin.. Every nail i dug, I knew was a nail! I Guess you cant find coins if they are not there, you have to go slow and listen for the right signals!!
