I've been in Florida for the last few weeks and have been on the beach for a while.
I've noticed that when a piston powered aircraft flies over, I get interference with my E-trac.
It is a quivering of the threshold tone that is very noticeable. I noise cancel every half hour and even that does not help. The E-trac is the only machine I have ever seen that can detect airplanes. Must be very powerful !
Spent some 9 hour days swinging the E-trac and can report that the E-trac will get easier to swing as you use it. At first my arm did get sore but after a few days, it is like swinging air. I can also report that the batteries for the E-trac don't last as long as I would like. I get about 3 hours on the factory rechargeable NIMH 1600 mah pack. 4 1/2 hours on the 2650 mah AA Duracell's. Slightly less when the background light is on.
I also would like to report that the E-trac does work extremely well on the beach. Don't get tempted to put the E-trac in the water though. I would highly recommend not even tempt yourself and keep the E-trac as far away from the water as possible. No sense tempting the sea to destroy your new machine. Dry sand is not a problem with the E-trac and I have dug dimes at 19 inches with all metal and manual.
The beaches of Florida (Gulf Coast) used to be very productive but recently the beaches have become less so because of replenishment, the new sand rake machines that pick up all the dropped items as deep as 6 inches, the weather being cold and the economy. Not too many people on the beaches of late. Did see a few guys out with detectors but they seemed to be not very knowledgeable. Their swings looked like a UFO taking off. They were walking at a very fast pace and I have to laugh watching them swinging like a helicopter a foot off the ground.
The cover film is working just fine. Sand is the worst for screens and the sand cannot do anything to this amazing stuff. Glare has not been a problem even on the sunniest days. Nice not to have to worry about scratches on the screen ever again.
I'll be on the Treasure coast this coming weekend (Colored beach) and then on to the beaches of North Carolina to the Outer Banks and the graveyard of the Atlantic. Looking forward to seeing if it really is better than the famed Treasure Coast of Florida.
