Last weekend we tested the E-trac with the following coils:

Standard coil
Excelerator 14x10"
Original 8" coil
Coiltek Joey 5x10"
Excelerator 7x4,5 "

See the results here, then click on the INGO tests-Eindhoven May 2009 item:

Looks like the standard coil in manual sensitivity is the ticket.... I like the way this test was setup and conducted. Thank You for sharing.

Blocked here at work.....any chance of a cut and paste into findmall? (or a PM)

Very interested on how the Coiltek Joey performed (I just bought one)

Cheers

Interesting that with the SE "FAST ON" seemed to go deeper than "DEEP ON" and one target wasn't even picked up in this mode. I'm curious why the SE wasn't tested in Manual sensitivity as well  You could also test with FAST ON & DEEP ON.

Looks like the test didn't bode well for the Coiltek Joey 5x10" or the Excelerator 7x4,5" as the stock coil seems to beat both! I would have like to have seen some of the new SEF coils tested - maybe next time.

Nice work guys

Thanks for that guys.

I've always been really happy with the Pro Coil for depth and speration and is on my e-trac 95% of the time. Probably shows just how much some of these coils were hyped when released.

Typically smaller coils mean less depth so that's no big suprise, really happy with the Joey's seperation capabilities though. Ideal in the trash......as long as the goodies aren't too deep underneath.

Good to get a feel for how much less depth the smaller coils have....thanks for the info.

Cheers,

Greg

Thanks for sharing. I have the SE, Etrac, F75, Tejon, just got the Vision (hope you guys test that one) and I am buying the GPX 4500. These detectors all topped your testing so that makes me feel really good. Eriks got a really good suggestion of changing the settings on the SE to fast and deep both on, my guess is you will loose depth, I always have. Another testing situation could involve changing your gain. Since you tested the F-75...what value did it read for the soil in your test site?
