E-Trac Returns with a WWI Relic find from a backyard!!

Gonehunting

New member
I haven't been out with the E-Trac in a while.. I have been hunting with the Deus quite a bit trying to get some good time on it. I have been really missing the depth that the Trac offers, so it went out with me today.. I forgot what it was like to dig a 10inch coin.. I went to a home built in 1917 and started digging old wheats and other relics. I had missed them in my previous outing and had solid signal at around a foot. I dug down thinking this was too big to be any good. Boy I am glad I did...

The Model of 1916 37mm round was developed by the French and was used by the French and the US in WWI to take out machine gun emplacements. It saw limited us in WWII and was used for training. It came with two different rounds, one an ineffective steel ball round, second was a exploding cast iron round with blackpowder. It came in the fixed tripod and wheeled carriage. Here is a pic off of the forgottenweapons website of the gun set up for action, apparently during WWI.

Thanks for looking. GfH

I don't know what is wrong with the pics I tried posting like I normally do by using img brackets, then loading them thru the site... I don't know wh GaryK is in the error message sorry for the photos..

Cant see them !!!!

thanks, I don't know what the problem was with the pics, but it appears to have fixed itself.. Well I am really impressed with the "D" But I can say after the past 2 days of running them both at the best settings that I know the E-Trac definitely has the advantage on depth... I like the other for the speed and weight, definitely is no slouch, but Let's just say the Trac is not going anywhere.. It still impresses me, the best deep coin machine!! imo.... Thanks for the view..still fighting the flu and wanting to hunt... kinda hard to decide which is better...lol

Cool find Gonehunting.....that thing is huge!!! I've got a D on the way to me too. I know I'll always have my ET but there are a couple of places I wanted to try the D on. Glad to hear you like it....but it'd be hard to beat the ET depth.

I'm glad you dug that. That is an interesting find. Thanks for the info and the pictures.

There were several relics that I found... I just got this one cleaned off. I didn't realize it was a picture till the water hit it...
It appears to be a soldier in uniform with a tie, but not sure.. The metal seems to be copper or brass and is stout.

Wonder if the person in the metal photo lived on the property. Did you show the photo to the current owner to see if he knows anything?
