E-Trac or Infinium for gold nugget shooting

Hi Minelab E-Trac and Garrett Infinum fans...

I'm wondering which machine between these two you feel would be better as a quick nugget hunting machine (not for flour super small gold). I realize the differences between the technologies used by each of them (I own both as well as a GPX-4500) but am interested in the opinion of others as to the use of these for a quick light weight nugget finding or patch prospecting machine.

Note: For fairness I will be posting this in the Infinum area as well.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts guys n gals.

I own an E-trac and my Dad has an Infinium. And I bloody love my e-trac, but there was one area it did let me down!

We have had both in extreamly mineralisied areas full of ironstone pebbles in Australia, the E-trac on Auto sensitivity +3 bottomed out and was vertually useless except for stuff on the surface, however the Infinium went on strong.

If you're heading in to highly minerilised/highly difficult areas the E-trac will struggle to give you high sensitivity, however if the conditions are ok there is no reason why the e-trac can't find a nugget. E-trac has no problem with Wet sand beach conditions though.

Tough soil conditions I'd reach for for the Infinium. The Technology employed is better suited to finding gold.

Cheers

Hi JJ Long time No CCCCCccccccccccc

I have an Infinium and it is a KILLER beach gold machine. It will kill your arms too digging down 18" to 24" in the sand :). I have used it nugget hunting too but it will not find the small stuff unless you sweep super slow with the 8" mono or smaller. I have done better on the small targets with my Whites TDI or GMT if the soil allows with a faster sweep speed.

For an all around PI machine the Infinium is the way to go and the price is right !! The only thing I did not like was the shaft so I put it on a Whites straight shaft and I was a happy camper. If I could only have one PI machine the Infinium would be my choice.
