E-Trac or Explorer SE Pro

Hi
Which of the two is better for Beaches Penascola,Gulf Shores area and good for hunting around old house places (lots of nails). Also the creek (lots or pulltabs) I have read about and heard from some user the up and down of both detectors.Hope to get some more info on them from Users?

Thanks BridgeHunter in South Alabama

I like both detectors... For me the SePro works better only because of my preferences of screens.

If you haven't used a Minelab before, my experience was I sold my SE and got the E-Trac. I think the E-Trac has been easier to use and easier to adjust. You can also copy settings that are used by the pros and download them directly into your machine. It's turn on and go for awhile using factory presets.
Both machines are the deepest detectors on the market and both will perform equally as well in the hands of a competent user. I just found the E-Trac easier to use as a newbie to the Minelab brand. Getting either machine will guarantee you won't be needing an upgrade in a year or two.

Thanks grumpyolman
It will be my first Minelab. Had heard that the SE was harder to setup. Time to upgrade to a better detector from my old Fisher CZ pro 7a still works so the wife can uses it.
Thanks for the info.

Coincidence...I went from the CZ Pro 7A to the SE. It made too many howling sounds. I was overwhelmed. Had to get my son to find a target with the CZ and invite me over to hear what a real target sounded like. In all fairness this was my first try with the SE and we were hunting a trashed fair grounds. However, a few days later we went to an old school and I was doing better until my son walked over to me to show me the nice rosey he just dug that he'd found with the CZ. Yuk! Take care...Jim

You will probably like either the SE or the E-trac...as they are both excellent machines.

My personal opinion...which is worth 5 cents at best:cool:....is that the E-trac might have a slightly easier learning curve.

How either would do on the beach though...i don't know. I've never had the pleasure...someday though I WILL:thumbup:

Thank Yall For the info. I haven't hunted the beaches in 15 years and only live about 90 miles from them. Back when all I had was a cheap detector Bounty I think. But going to start back this year wife has seen the rings found there. And the Boss wants one LOL. My fisher is still a dang good detector to be 8 years old wife and grandkids can use it.

Thanks BridgeHunter
