E-Trac on the beach

Well-known member
Took my new E-Trac to the NJ beach today. Ran it in Beach mode for a bit, then switched to Two Tone Ferrous, with 30 on down blacked out, sensitivity at manual 20.

Hit 7 DEEP nickels....a great sign. Deep zincs too. For some reason, nickels and zincs were the only coins found today which was odd.

Found some junk jewelry and a really small low conductive rivet about 1/4 inch in diameter about 4 inches deep, which to me is pretty impressive. That means if there was any small gold earrings at that depth, it would have picked them up. Also found a 3 inch length fine silver chain. All the targets were repeatable and although a few signaled the low tone every so often, I still dug them. Did get 2 stainless steel nails that were about 3-4 inches long and a nice 1 oz fishing jig head with large hook....but no rusty nails !

The unit ran super smooth in that mode, and I did not dig any iron at all. Iron was present because I ran wide open for a bit and dug a few rusty nails prior to discriminating them out.

Can't wait to go back. Looks like the E-Trac is gonna be an awesome beach unit (which was one of the reasons why I got one). I am sure when I hit a few old land spots I have picked out, it will sniff out some silver.

Your going to love it more all the time, I have about 10hrs on mine and I loved it from the start and love it more every time. I wish I had the beach closer.

I only get to beach hunt once a year while on vacation, but I can say E-Trac's and Explorer's are great on the beach. They run smooth and hit on deep targets, the only drawback is not being waterproof. I now own an Excalibur too, just because I don't want to zap my E-Trac. I like to hang out too close to the water sometimes and that is just asking for it. I only get to salt water beach hunt once a year when I go on vacation and look forward to it every year.

I attached a picture of some of the items I found on my first beach hunt with an E-Trac.

I have some water proof units too, and really purchased the E-Trac to use on some land sites I have in mind. I mostly beach hunt, so I wanted a unit that could work well in the wet salt sand too.

Looks like the E-Trac can do both.

Nice finds....you should try to hit that beach more than once a year !!!

I would love too hit the beach more often, but it is a long way to the ocean from Southeast Missouri. Most of my hunting is restricted to land hunting but beach hunting will surely spoil you.
