E-trac Maiden Voyage today!

New member
Today Geodehunter (Robbie) and I hit and old Church Ground here in ILLinois that I have been detecting since 07.
It was my first hunt with the E and I was excited to say the least!I..Robbie and I arrived there alittle after 10am, I showed him around the area and where
the good targets were coming from. After we both suited up and hit the area with our E-tracs...This area has been hunted previously with a
fisher CZ-6 an F-75 a Teknetics Mark-1 and lastly a Garrett AT Pro and now our E's...I set my E-trac in TTF wide open
screen and auto sensitivity plus 3...It wasn't five minutes and I received a nice signal about three foot off an old tree stump. A Buffalo
Nickel was recovered...and not long afterward I recovered the two early dated wheat backs within the same area,my V-nickel turned up later
... Robbie was up top buy the foundation still looking and hoping to find his First Barber Dime....Not only did he find his first B. Dime but also his first V-nickel
as well....We detected I don't know how much longer but I want to say that I was digging 22 cal spent bullets out of that churchground
proving the E-trac's sensitivity to small conducters at depth while using the TTF and no disc. My last good target was the silver item
shown in the photo and I can only guess it is a cuff link maybe someone who reads this might know...Anyway while Robbie an I were heading
our way to our cars he found another Barber Dime (1892) You talk about a good time detecting!! We definnately enjoyed our time together..
The E-Trac has proven itself to me on my Maiden voyage and I'm looking forward to the next time....Congrats Robbie on your Great Finds...

You did alright on your first time out!

My first time out was at a trashy park (big mistake) where i was about ready to bash that brand new eTRAC around a tree, seriously thought about putting it on fleabay!
So many unending, continuous, confusing tones, so much junk dug up.
Glad i kept it!

I can say this. What an epic hunt for the 2 of us. It's the first time we have hunted together and it won't be the last. This hunt is what dreams are made of. Duggr you caught on to your E-Trac fasted then a wild fire. We weren't there 5 minutes and you were digging out coins. I was lucky enough to knock off 2 more coins off my bucket list. I had an awesome time. We got cut a little short on our hunt when the cattle decided they wanted our spot. Good times and a great new friendship. Thanks duggr!!! If anybody knows what the artifact is in the picture would you please let us know. We both agreed that were pretty sure it's silver.

Thats Right!...It won't be the last Robbie....Glad you enjoyed yourself as well !
I have a feeling that old churchground hasn't seen the last of our minelabs:minelab::thumbup:

Talk about a maiden voyage that's a fantastic story and great finds! Your silver item may be a kind of "garment lock" like a pin to a cape or something - just a guess though

Wow! Now that's a first hunt that will help build confidence! Great job. That's a place to go back to real soon! The silver jewelry clasp might be a cuff link or "over the shoulder" cape connector pin. Keep up the good work!

Ironsight,
I understand completely! When Geodehunter and I were run out by the cows at the old church grounds we left and
went to an Old park in Iowa! I can say that dealing with trash is never fun for me and after awhile I was tired to the
point of not even digging questionable signals,,,When I get to this point it's time to call it a day...
I guess thats the reason I keep going back to the church grounds, as the main trash signal is
only iron with a few 12 gage headstamp brass here and there and some spent 22 cal brass and
bulletts and maybe a bottle cap if your unlucky enough to find one...
I have little time anymore to hunt it seems, and I like to dig history not trash so I spend most of my
free time at home online or at the library going through the county history books and old county maps to find the old
places like the Church Grounds that Geodehunter and I hunted yesterday, where the "newer trash" foil, screw caps
pulltabs, and everthing else is not there or minimal at best! It was a day to remember for me:thumbup:

your silver item is definately a cufflink!

I wish I had the other one for a matching pair:thumbup:

Today I went hunting the old church grounds again for about 2-3 hours. My New Hunting Partner
Geodehunter was unable to attend but off I went! I figure that I have around 6-hrs total so far on the Etrac. The
photo shows most of my finds with the E-trac not counting some pieces of can slaw and a handful more of the 12 gage brass
and some more 22 brass....The Barber quarter I dug was a surprise because I was using 4-tone no disc. and was
getting some different signals, but I new there was a High conductor in the midst....I set the tones to Multi afterwards.
I found the 1917 wheat back first with the Gold plated pin after....I got to give the Etrac credit for making it easier
to find the Good stuff....I've been digging most anything that's coin size, lock's on or just sounds good!!...

Congratulations to the both of you guys, good friendships and good hunting make for a great day..........:clapping:

Congrats on the Barber Quarter duggr!!! That's a great find from the area.

You are definitely getting the hang of your ETrac and are really starting off with a bang. A Barber quarter, buffalo, V-nickel and wheats in your first two hunts is incredible.
