E-Trac Issues...Help Please

I am having issues with my new machine...maybe something I'm doing wrong, or might be something wrong with machine....

Heres the issue....NO matter whether I air test or ground test any coin..clad, silver...whatever...my readout shows it a 03-XX...I cannot get it to read a 12-xx on anything...Is it something I'm doing wrong?

Factory reset and software resets have been done, and I'm only using the stock Coin program...

Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated

After market or factory coil? Seems like Bill_S made a video of an after market coil that didn't ID coins correctly...

Factory Coil, and standard Coins preloaded program....Dealer has no clue, told me to contact Minelab...I have a call in, but wanted to ask users also

Obvious but ,,,,, check it without the coil cover and double check the cable connection if you haven't already.
Sounds to me like it's going to take a trip

Maybe it has Explorer guts! Did you buy it new or used? Trustworthy seller? If you just bought it I would be FURIOUS if the dealer didnt exchange it pronto! Course then again,Im not the reasonable type...

I bought it from a friend, who had it for two months and used it twice...She had no idea what she was getting into...With that said, it is new, bought in October by her, and I transferred the warranty in December, and it doesnt sound like anyone has seen this issue, so Yes, a trip to the Mfg, is in the future I believe

Well,if it's not operating correctly I can see where your friend would be somewhat disenchanted...sucks that she may not have gotten to really see what it can do. Once it gets back from ML maybe you could show her how it's REALLY supposed to work!:) Good luck Digger...

Check that the previous owner has not added something 'physical' to the stem or search-coil housing, etc., particularly the nut and bolt retaining the search-head.

I once had a person bring their new detector to me, with a complaint of similar dis-functionalities. ?........They had stuck another ' label ' over the coil's logo, to hide it's true id,
so their friends would not be able to realise its manufacturer, if it boosted their finds rate!

Once I removed it, all was ok......that was about 30 years ago, at a rally.

For your problem, why not disconect the search-head BEFORE you switch on, then check if the 3 is still present on the 'isolated' unit, at switch on?

Matt.

P.S.

Second thoughts......WHAT DOES THE TARGET CURSOR SHOW?

Is it also aligning with the erroneous I.d.....?.......matt

If your holding the coin in your hand and waving it across the coil to get a reading and you have a ring or watch on it could be reading those items and not the coin.
