E - Trac is great in trash

I read this statement a lot on this forum .What kind of trash , modern pull tabs and pop tops .
How about nail infested sites . Does it null on nails if so what about good target next to nails
What makes it great Thanks Mike

If you use the coins mode, iron will null. You will hear the good tones in with the null. So, it would do well at a nail infested site. Just listen for the hi tones peeping out of the null. It also seems to hit hard and consistently on coins, making non-iron junk sound weaker. It has a trash density and difficult ground mode, as well as a DD coil that separates like nobody's business. The iron nulling plus the coil that separates well is a great combo. What makes it great for me is finding 100+ silver coins in hunted-out parks and schools. The proof is in the finding for me. E-Trac is a coinshooters dream. If you're a relic hunter, the Explorer is probably a better choice.

You have to take the time to learn it. I hunt mostly relics and, for me at least, I prefer the ET over the SE for relic hunting. However, in heavy iron and nails I think that a Tejon with a small 5.75 coil has an edge over either the SE or the ET. If I have a camp or any good site I will hunt it with several machines. The iron is not a problem for the Tejon, it just ignores most of it. The only nails that give me a hard time are bits and pieces of square nails. They will not "double beep" and they sometimes sound too good to leave. I have found many good targets by digging those iffy signals that change when you turn and swing from a different direction, or one way signals. If you just dig the solid, good repeatable signals... I thank you!

You have to dig lots of trash to find some of the really good stuff, especially if you want gold. You have to dig pulltabs and all sorts of trash to find gold. Again, the Tesoro is best in nails and iron, IMO. The E-TRAC is still my "go to" detector though. It will find the goodies in iron but the TID will not be steady, especially the ferrous number. The conductive number usually locks on and stays steady. I dug a eagle coat button Wednesday evening. It was at about 4" and iron was in the hole. It read 20-20 to 20-22, I figured it was trash but I dug it anyway.

I reread my response below and should add that it does well at IDing pulltabs and more modern trash too. In this way it is easy to hear the tabs and the good stuff and dig appropriately. I used to shy away from picnic tables (or at least approach them cautiously) as they would never fail be an annoying mess of caps and tabs, but I can walk right around these areas now an easily pick out coins.
