E-Trac is a winner

I took it out today for the first time, to a local park that I've personally hunted plenty over the last 20 years, and where I've seen others hunting as well. I just spent a couple of hours there getting acquainted with the E-Trac, but the very first thing I dug with it was a 1927 Mercury dime. This in a place I haven't found silver since the 80s. I also pulled a 1936 Buffalo Nickel and a bunch of newer coins with a few pieces of junk. Not bad for the first couple of hours with the machine in a heavily hunted area.

I really wasn't sure if I was going to like it as I've had experience with the Explorer and am used to it, but after using the E-Trac and seeing the results, it's pretty clear to me that the new Minelab is a winner. I used to really wonder about the stories of people going over places and finding stuff where they'd hunted with other machines, but I can see that really is true.

Do I sitll like the Explorer? Yeah of course, but the E-Trac is really beginning to win me over. I mean you can't argue with results, and to me, the finds were results. I don't feel the machine has a high learning curve. At first it is easy to feel intimidated by the new interface, But after you get it set up the way you want it, you don't have to fiddle with too much in the field, and with time it becomes more comfortable. I did not find it to be a "noisy" machine either. Maybe in all metal it is, but I didn't run it that way. My settings were what Ray-Mo posted a few days ago. They worked pretty well in this area.

So anyone who has an Explorer who is thinking about an E-Trac, from what I've seen it is well worth it.

For those who want to know, I used the 12x10 SEF coil with it, which I did not find heavy (though it weighs more than the Pro coil) and really sounds off on the good stuff. That coil is also a winner. That may have had something to do with finding good stuff right away. In my testing I found it to be better than the Pro coil, and in the field it certainly found good stuff. Now this is just what I've found, for me, and my area, your milage may vary. I know there will be someone out there thinking "dude, the E-trac sucks, and so do you, my Explorer will spank your *** any day man" and if it works for you, great, this is just my experience and it's a very positive one and I'm very impressed with the results in the field with this machine.
