E-Trac in Mid-Missouri with Pro Coil

I located a plat map of a local park from the 1920's (before the park was a park). The map showed the land was divided into 16 residential lots. I hit the park with the E-Trac using the stock Pro coil and a modified coin pattern. I was rewarded with 5 silvers, a Buffalo nickel, and a ton of clad. I probably have around 30 more hours of hunting to do to cover all the ground, then I will hit it again from a different 90-degree direction with the 6x8 SEF coil.

The oldest coins were two wheats - 1910-P and 1912-P. The Buffalo was 1917-P. I suspect the silver and old stuff came from when the area was homes and most of the clad from its park phase. I did also find remnants of the homes; some broken ceramic, old window glass, square nails, bricks, etc. when I dug some plugs. I am excited to finish sweeping the area once warm weather returns.

There is some EMI in the area. I couldn't kick up the detector past 25 Manual sensitivity very often. The area is decently trashy with pull tabs, iron, and can slaw. I wish folks didn't litter so much.

Also, we got our new digital video camera, so no more grainy Blackberry-cam videos! Yay for that. I am still looking for a decent tripod so I can get some full dig shots.

Sounds like you have a lot of good hunting left and you have a good strategy too for your site. Just curious, you mentioned EMI, did you noise cancel when you had a higher setting in manual??? Also, I have had some good luck in trashy spots by slowing down and even backtracking when hear the trash/ iron under the coil. Two tone ferrous is good too, but I find in moderate to high mineralized soil 4 tone ferrous is probably a better choice over 2TF since you will get tones on targets with ferrous readings greater than 17.

Thanks for the advice! I'll be honest - I have never tried TTF before. All of the spots I hunt so far are mixed trash with iron, aluminum, and pull tabs. I do have two spots where they bulldozed old houses that I am considering trying out TTF. I need to study more on how to use TTF.

As for the EMI, I do an automatic noise cancel whenever the machine gets chatty. If that fails to solve the problem, then I back down the sensitivity gradually. I think I should have used the 6x8 SEF as the primary coil on this spot due to the trash density. The machine nulls a lot from the trash. I probably do need to slow down more and try to develop a good 4-6 second swing. I am getting a Swingy Thing to help with the arm fatigue so that should help.
