E-Trac ID number question

When one Noise cancels the E at a site. And then if you do it again later there..... Does the ID numbers change on the read out with the noise cancel settings if it selects another range.??

I read that they do..But to be honest I never heard this before... If they do change ??. How much of a change on ID can be expected ...

Or was this Bad info by who ever wrote that info... I believe they were using nickel range readings as the example..
 
never noticed a change but I never redo the noise cancel unless it starts acting up which is hardly ever
 
Short answer, yes and no.

YES, in extremely high EMI areas. Detecting under hi-power lines, near cell towers, etc.
NO, in quiet EMI areas. Detecting in remote woods or far away from any high energy EMI sources.

The key is to find the noise channel at which the eTRAC is least affected (most stable) in a high EMI area.
High EMI radiation can corrupt the target's ID recieve data due to the resulting poor signal/noise ratio which typically manifests as continual falsing.

The signal/noise ratio could be so bad as to give erratic unreadable IDs due to the continuous falsing. The continuous and i mean continuous falsing in that hi EMI environment would be the first clue to change noise channels or auto noise cancel. A last ditch effort migh be to reduce the sensitivity to a point where the falsing is tolerable at the expense of target depth. If nothing works and i've been there, time to move on to a quieter EMI area.

Even though i always auto cancel before starting a detecting session, its almost always reverts to the same channel and at different sites. Fortunately, the vast majority of sites are free enough of EMI, that noise channels have a minimal to no effect on performance at least in my experience.

In fact, in those quiet areas, one can even pick and choose the noise channel which is really the xmit frequency band of energy. For example, some claim certain channels are deeper seeking than others, etc.
 
I've never noticed a change. But you could throw a coin on the ground and manually change the chanels to see if they do change at any given site?

I have a hard time believeing it would change anything. I ONLY noise cancel if my etrac is running unstable

I totally agree with you ironsight 100% me and Brice did some testing on this and found the same thing out,only very high EMI made a difference, we also discovered channel 2 was a very deep channel in our ground. we never run auto much but could in channel 2 in most places and at a greater dept. in auto the Etrac would run 28-30 ?? just saying
