E-Trac coil, Your Opinions...

Gonehunting

New member
I have an E-Trac and the Sunray X-5. In your opinion what is the best aftermarket coil for the best depth and separation with a smaller than stock coil. Please leave your opinions... Thanks in advance..

I use the SEF 6x8 and love it. I've actually dug a merc at 8" with 3 nails around it. For me it's the best one I've used, but I haven't used them all. Don't plan on trying any others either...happy with what I have.

I have the sef 6x8 and the x8 and the x5
I like the x8 better then the other two unless I'm in the dump then the x5 the x8 stays on the etrac all the time

I have the x5 and x8. I just used the x5 yesterday for the first time. I was able to hunt an area I refused to hunt with the regular coil due to all the trash. I was hitting wheats and silver at 6 inches with SOLID hits. I have no doubts about the depth ability of the x5 coil.

The SEF 8x6 would be my choice to complement the X5 and pro coil without a doubt and I have tried them all LOL.

I have the X-8 and use in trashy areas with good depth and separation. I would recommend as a second coil.

Sunray X-5, my favorite trash coil!

Thanks for everyone's reply's.. Witreasure, I haven't heard anything on that coil... Please continue everyone..

I've been using the 4" x 10" Joey coil, and it pinpoints like a laser. I wish I could afford to buy a 6" x 8" SEF so I could compare them. The Joey coil cuts through trash very nicely.

I love the Sunray X-8. It has plenty of depth and better seperation than the stock coil. And it is less than 1 pound if weight is a concern. I like mine so much I use it about 80% of the time!

I have a Joey coil 5x10 that I use on my gps4800 it stays on there 90% of the time and love it
The sef 6x8 isn't as hot to me that's why the x8 stays on the etrac 95% of the time when it get super trash the x5 goes on
If I looking for a site then I put on a 11x17 coiltek on the gpx 4800

I use the 6" Excellerator EQ2 Pro coil. It has excellent depth and seperates like a lazer. It is a closed design so no hangups. All of the coils mentioned are excellent coils. I went with the 6" Excellerator because it had good reviews and was a little less expensive..

Sun-Ray coils are my choice but the SEF 6X8 works well also. The worst coil I ever used was a SEF 10X12. Seems everyone likes them I must have got a bad one. You should check out Bryce Brown's field tests on different coils. He is the moderator on the Explorer forum and you will find his field tests there. HH :minelab:

Yes, has some of the most well written reviews on coils.
