Cheers,
Greg

for you to go over that site again.........with the next best detector that ever comes out that can surpass the E-tracs ability in finding coins(I'm sure we'll see one come out soon).............or maybe your convinced you've "sanitized" that site of all it's coins? You might have , but you can never be that sure really , can you?

I've got a site like that, BUT I've gone back with a detector, set up slightly different with wet or with the driest of soil conditions or a different size coil and I always end up finding stuff that was "hidden" from any other detector with different settings that I would have tried earlier hunts with the variable ground conditions(with certain wetter or dryer soil types).

Could still be a layer below that one or possible some that were masked even in the layer you found all of these coins in you know. I think that's what spurs most of us on to go back.........never being 100% sure.

That was a great hunt Greg! It's rare to see that many pe-decimals come out of one site in such a short space of time.
Well done.
Mick Evans.

Tonight I opened the pattern right up and went over part of it for the fourth time, pulled out a 1900 UK penny and a 1942 Six pence.

I'm looking forward to a bit of rain so the soil can get a bit of moisture in it, until then it's really starting to thin out.

Has been a great training ground for the E-trac.

Great hunt! I dont know anything about your coins but that many early daters has to be good anywhere!!

Nice! Makes me want to go back to the places I've been and hunt them again! Thanks for posting your E-Trac config. This will help some from your area I'm sure. I think Auto sense works pretty well as is evident by the depths you found these coins at.

Good Job, Greg.

You averaged better than 2 old coins per hour. Pretty darn good for an old park.

Back out this morning for 2 hrs and got a 1919 Six Pence, 1942 & 43 Three Pence and a 1951 Penny.

Tried all-metal to catch the coins that may have been masked by a blanked target. All metal was a bit too much for me....too many high pitch tones on iron. Changed to AndyS's pattern with a slow swing (one swing in 6'ish seconds) and got the above.

I've been very lucky to find this park and it's going to be hard to beat it. The more popular part of the park has been hammered and I have only pulled out one old coin from there. The part of the park I'm in is no longer popular these days but was early/mid 1900's and just looks like scrub now, I've got nearly 50 oldies out of a 80mx50m area. So I was very happy to find this unworked site only a short drive from home......it's worked now though LOL

Cheers

-1951 Half Penny.

But my fav is a 1889 UK Three Pence. (now my oldest coin)

Sorry about the crap pics...I need to buy a scanner.

Great hunting there, Greg! Keep up the good work. If you're not using the "Macro" setting on your camera, doing so could definitely help your photo results. Keep the finds/posts coming. Johnny
