E-trac arm cuff

Does a new E-trac come with some kind of pad in the arm cuff?

Mine was new and in the cuff area was just plastic and that didn't work at all with short sleeves. I didn't question it until now thinking that is just the way they come. I have went back through the box thinking a stick on pad may be in the box and I missed it when getting the detector out.

Arm cuffs are the most overlooked aspect of detector design and Minelab may be the worst. The one that comes stock on the etrac is a real POC. I used a stick on that looks like the furry half of velcro and it works pretty well. Herke makes some good replacement cuffs with padding. They're pricey but what isn't for a Minelab. At least they're made of metal and can be formed a bit to fit your forearm. All arm cuffs should be made like the cuff for the F75:thumbup: I took mine off the 75 and put it on the Deus and it improved the ergonomics on even the Deus considerably. I contacted Fisher and they won't sell them separately without an act of Congress:thumbdown:

Another vote for the Herke cuff. Good stuff. You can take a couple arm sweat bands and wear them on your forearm, but for 40-50 bucks it can be done the way it should’ve been done to begin with.

Go to fleabay and buy yourself a Cuffer, it's a nice addition for the Etrac plastic armrest.

I'll add another vote for the Herke. The original little V cuff on the Explorer/Etrac series requires a narrow forearm. Notice that the soon-to-be-released Equinox has a U shaped arm cuff. Glad to see somebody over there is taking notes.

WOW I have been cutting tops off a few cotton socks and putting them on my arm where the cuff rest on my arm.

Thanks for shocking truth, and some ideas to fix the problem.

Get a Herke cuff, they are 1000% better than the factory one

I got this "K Cuff" from a guy in New York state that was selling them about 7 yrs. ago - it's works great !
He made this cuff to my specs because I wanted it a little taller than the ones he was producing.
I wanted it made taller so it would keep the back of the machine ( battery compartment & headphone jack ) up out of the mud and snow.
It's light weight, stable ( machine won't roll on it's side ) , comfortable and has a powder coated finish - cost approx. $60.00
Myself, I like it much more than the Herke cuff.

Maybe search old Findmall posts or Google "K Cuff" if you want to try to contact him.

Good Luck !
