E-TRAC and DD coil signal strength?

I have an E-TRAC on order and I've been reading all I can on the machine. I have a question about using the standard DD coil that is coming with mine. From what I've read about the DD coil is the signal strength will remain the same from the front of the coil to the rear of the coil but narrower from the sides of the coil unlike a concentric coil where the signal will be centered more depending on how deep the target is. I'm wondering how hard this is to get used to and how hard is it to pinpoint?

Extremely easy to PP, just wiggle back slowly till sigmal is gone then coin is directly in front of coil. I love DD coils!

It wont be hard to get used to. With the DD coil, less overlap is required with each swing. I like to think of my sweeps like I'm using a squeegie on a window, wherever the coil passes you've cleaned, but if you don't overlap it some you'll still get streaks..

check out this video I made on how to pinpoint with the etrac, this method can be used with ALL DD coils

Its not just pinpointing . Its the idea of getting used to a deep target giving a signal from the front of your coil all the way to the rear when you're used to getting a deep signal in one small spot.

Hi Goes4ever, nice video! I had heard about this technique and your video really shows it well. I have a 12' x 10' SEF coil and imagine it will work the same way, anyway I will give it a try. Thank you, ddcarr

I have not seen deep coins give me a signal at the back of the coil on my etrac

I bought Detech 13 inch and check on my coin garden to see if its better than my minelab coil. Not much! I have to play with my new coil with setting until to find whats best for deep coins. I have mercury dime at 8 inch deep in my garden.
