DX1 operation

Hello MXT Forum members! I have just received a new MXT300 with 10"D2 and 6"D2 Excelerator. I am considering the purchase of a DX1, but as I study the pictures I can't see how the probe can be effective while fastened way up on the shaft above the coil. What am I missing? Is there a document somewhere that explains the set-up? I have no doubts as to the effectiveness of the pinpointer due to your many accolades, just trying to fit my brain around the operation. Thanks for responding to my curiosity!

OK! I understand now that the probe is to be lifted from the shaft and placed on the target site. I thought that it was fixed to the shaft. Please excuse my newbie ignorance?

As I understand it, the device simply clips into the shaft for storage. To use it, you pull it out of the clip and it acts like a regular probe, but better since it uses the mxt hardware for power and for target identification.

Being hooked to the detector is nice in that you won't forget and leave it behind, in the field or at home. Downside, you can't use it with Just any detector that you grab.

if you get on youtube.com and do a search for "whites mxt" there are a couple vidios there with a guy using 1 and u can see it in action.
