Dutch Schultz's treasure in Castkill

Hi People

I'm new here. I like a friendly way to introduce myself here. I'm interested to search for caches of Dutch shultz treasure. I hear long time before somebody was searching for this hoard. I don't know it was found or not. I'm making my research about place and laws regarding to detecting in the banks of any stream, creek or river in NY state. Maybe somebody here know. I will appreciate your information.

Thanks

Architecad

Beautiful country picture you have posted there. Welcome aboard. His treasure has not been found yet.

You'd probably want to talk to the DEM of your state or check out their website for MD laws and then call or better yet visit one of their offices and speak in person. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have a land AND wet machine to search the area. Usually DEM has jurisdiction over the rivers, ponds and such unless it's on private property and then you'd have to ask the owner. Let me know how you make out and if you find anything I get 25% for a consultation fee. :heh:

What is DEM?

Department of Environmental Management. (DEM)

NY calls theirs Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC)

Regulations and Enforcement are here:

http://www.dec.ny.gov/65.html

DEC in your case usually has jurisdiction over public areas owned by the state. I would go in person and talk with them so they see a face with your request. It's probably old news to them as others have tried already. In my state all the signs say as one of their rules."Any other activity besides boating, canoeing, fishing is prohibited" but I have been places where I called up and they didn't care but check with where you are and where you are going first just to cover yourself. I always feel much more confident when I have permission from the proper channels. It helps too if some wise guy or maybe an over zealous game warden starts telling you,"metal detecting is illegal here" You can then say, "I have permission to metal detect here from the DEC office"

Thanks for all advice. If someday I found a cache, I will think in you. Other point is the fact that the paper money and Liberties bond are destroyed by the time, humidity and corrupted.:look: My wife is from Colombia and she told me years ago when Pablo Escobar (Medellin cartel) was shot in 1993, he buried millions of dollars but when Colombian Police found some Escobar's caches, they found the paper dollars rusted, destroyed due humidity.Dutch never thought about that point when he order to build the strongbox. That fact could be a negative possibility.Only the Gold coins could be saved.:stretcher:
