After reading about the V3, I've been motivated to pull out the XLT that I bought last year. I've only had a few hunts with it for very few coins, but pulled it out yesterday and today for a couple of late afternoon hunts. I was surprised to come up empty yesterday, I was hunting just after a farmers market which always leaves something, but not yesterday. It was an enjoyable hunt all the same.
I thought I'd try my hand at a different spot today, but only got 45mins in though. I was very impressed at how easy the targets were able to be figured out using several different features in concert with each other. The Signagraph is starting to make sense to me and actually alerted me to several coins that I would have otherwise walked over. One was a 20 cent piece that gave a bouncing 38 plus a very scrappy audio and pinpoint, but the signagraph called it good straight away and constant strong single bar. I turned through 90' and got a better audio. I hadn't had it centred and it was at a very odd angle to the coil.
Another interesting target that gave a good signal but poor signagraph reading, was a sprig from a footy boot. It gave a reading of around 68 which is the same as our Aussie $1 coins. I've adjusted the DC sensitivity down to 23 as this gives me a good feel for a target when the VCO is engaged. The pinpoint was telling me that the target was a bit smaller than a $1coin. It sounded like a $2 coin, but the numbers were a few to high for it, so I was keen to recover the target to find out what it was. The signagraph and pinpoint were both spot on!
I'm looking forward to many more hunts with it and I'm sure that I'll have plenty of learning frustration, but for now, it's been great.
