Dust issues w/ Digital SLR's

I've been reading occasionally that Digital SLR's have issues with dust penetrating certain interior components of the camera, and it seems to be a problem specifically targeting digitals w/ interchangeabl lenses. Is this correct?
Is it something that happens no matter how careful you are interchanging the lenses, or is it a result of being too casual with the camera?
Is there any remedy, preventive maintenance, or recommended action that will eliminate/minimize the problem?
Thanks all.

The SLR manufacturers include instructions on how to clean their sensors.
Have you considered the Panasonic FZ-20?
Awsome camera.

Also condensation spots on the CCD are a big problem with living in humid areas of the world.
I use Sensor Swabs and Eclipse Optical Cleaning fluid to clean my sensors with. I also carry a bulb type blower in my camera bag for "on the fly" cleaning.

Here in the East Tennessee valley we "enjoy" 60%-80% humidity from about May through October. I guess a lot of preventive maintenance is in order.
Thanks again.

I just ordered that swab from Copper Valley. Eclipse is on it's way...
