I am new to this board and hope you don't mind if I answer. I live in Madisonville, Ky and there were a couple of skirmishes here locally. The CSA raided this town, burning down the courthouse and I am scouting the area for places where they camped and fought. When I find some bullets or buttons, etc. I would be glad to share them with anyone interested. I will only sell some items if they are worth more than a couple of hundred a piece. Small items like bullets I consider swap pieces or just shareable items. I also collect old civil war photos and posters. So if anyone shares this passion feel free to email me any time.

I have a number of text files about the cw. I most recently got my hands on the Major-General Jacob Dolson Cox Military Reminiscence Of The Civil War. He was from Ohio, commanding Twenty-Third Army Corps. Very nice reading of the founding of the Corps and their campaigns in Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee. It is public domain text so I can share it with anyone who cares to have a copy....

PS heres an old map connecting some battles and skirmishes...

If anybody lives in or near Cincinnati Ohio, I have been told that there is a book in the main library that tells the complete ride of John Hunt Morgan on his raid thru Ind.and Ohio A friend that likes history about the CW said it was there and only as a reference (it can't be taken out of library) . He said it names all the towns and villages and the roads. Some of the roads don't exist today. The town I live in was one that his men rode thru. The story goes, there was a man in the bell tower of the church with a shotgun waiting for Morgan to ride into town. Morgan's men rode their horses into the church and up the stairs to the second floor and dragged the man down. They took the shotgun and the union flag he had away. then put him on a horse and tied the flag to the horse's tail and took him along to the next town. He was let go there. The friend that told me is Rick Crawford. You might have heard of him, maybe not.

maybe you can try looking up some places in gettysburg. They probably have sites online that you can order from. LIke "The horse soldier" or "The Union drummer boy"
And the "Regimental QuarterMaster" all them in Gettysburg. Thats if you're looking to purchase them.

I'm a "Monitor and the Merrimac" fan.... Does anyone know if they ever recovered the bow ram off the CSS Virginia from the USS Cumberland? Wouldn't mind having a cannon ball from Monitor...be a nice doorstop! :usan:

I know about all the other stuff found and recovered from Monitor, and the museum, etc. :usan:
