Do I need waterproof headphones to water hunt? Here's the story. Been waiting way too long for my headphones to arrive. I'm leaving today though for a place I can water hunt. Although I admit I'm scared of putting this machine in water from all the leaking comments I will. But with no phones can I just take the headphone adapter off, use the plug and go in the water with the speaker. Yes the sound will be poor but I need to detect these beaches and water and I'm stuck.

Go for it use the speaker and plug! Also there have been a few leaks with some machines but its a few, there's a whole lot more machines that don't leak and I think the bad ones are just that!! Sometimes a lemon comes off the line, and it would suck waiting for a fix but Minelab will stand behind there machine!! So if it leaks it leaks! However my ctx gets wet a couple times a week,, if your scared go to CHURCH!!! LOL... Just kiddin buddy have fun find a ton of stuff check out my vids on you tube for a good example of your TID numbers on gold jewelry!! 502petrie is my channel! Swing SLOW and keep it LOW

The speaker will work OK but you can't hear it if it is under water. Some people have used the wireless module either mounted on their hat or encased in a waterproof bag and put in a shirt pocket.
