Was home yesterday because I had surgery on my gums, so I decided to go for a short hunt on my property. I own 10 acres in Orange county NC but I don't hunt there much because all I have found to date was one 1968 quarter, shotgun shells and old iron. So I said what the hey (as some people say down here!), I need to go out with the dogs for a few minutes and take the "V" and hunt just below nickel on the DISC. After a bout 5 minutes I got a beep and DISC'ed it past Tab without loosing the the tone; the tone was short and indicated a small object. Figured it was a shotgun shell and started digging. After almost giving up as I had gone down about 6 inches--but my pinpointer was showing it was close. Popped up the last bit of earth, and there was a shiny (you guessed it) 1942 Mercury dime. That ended my hunt for the day (it was hot and buggy). I had gone over 4 months without finding any silver, and suddenly found my first silver on my own property. (I have only lived there 20 years, so it wasn't lost by me.). You never know!
