I updated my coin count the other evening and found that I only needed to find 26 coins to hit 5000. I called MontanaMatt to see if he wanted to go out for a quick hunt. Light was fading fast and we headed out to pound clad. It got dark fast and we got back to the car and I counted my coins..... only had 25!! Matt and I went out to get 1 more and it wasn't the one in the pic( I WISH!!) It was just a crummy clad penny, but number 5000 for me. I have had my machine three years, but only really detected this year and one other. This is total coins, not just this year. I know some folks achieve this in a season, but for me this is a great milestone! Happy hunting!

Congrats on reaching 5000 coins that's a great achievement and alot of digging . I am close to my first 1000 here . Anyway Congrats

Congrats J. bet very few have done as well in that amount of time. And to think he sold me his legendary 6x10! Keep up the fine work friend. BigSteve

I found a whole lotta coins with that coil Steve, still a bunch of good mojo in there for sure! Hope it does great for you!

Great job on the 5000 coins.. I've found over 2000 pennies, but not sure on how many coins total.. Guess I should stsart counting.. :detecting:

Use this as an incentive to set a few goals for the future, such as:

Number of times to get out hunting in a week.

Number of coils (modern and older) to find in a year (plan for 2010's New Year's Resolution. :) ).

Certain older coins you want to find next year in addition to a "total" count.

Number of silver coins or pre-Jefferson nickels or Indian Head cents to find.

It's a great hobby and I wish you the best of success in the future. Just remember, it is a FUN sport and there aren't as many virgin sites as some of us enjoyed, and many (most at some locations) of the silver and older coins have been recovered in decades passed, so don't set unachievable goals. Research a bit and seek out renovation work in older areas.

Congratulations!!! That is an admirable achievement. Recovering 5000 coins represents a lot of deep knee bends. So in addition to being wealthier you are also healthier. This hobby is truly beneficial to us in a lot of ways.

Congratulations from Nancy and I on the milestone Jon. :clapping:

Fantastic accomplishment Jon! Believe me, the "crummy clad penny" helps with the grand total. It's happened to us before and we've wished we would have bent down to pick up that one "crummy clad penny" to complete a goal. CONGRATULATIONS! HH, Nancy

Thanks for all your encouragement and help with machine. Getting cold here, so season coming to an end soon. Hope you all can get out some more before the cold!
