Dug BIG silver today at and OLD church

today I met up with my buddy Marty and we were heading to hit an old park. The other day I saw an old church with a school on the property I stopped there first and asked the priest if he minded if we hunted behind the church around the school playground, he said he did not mind at all.

it sure was quiet back there, very little signals at all, appears someone has been there before us. Anyhow I get a scratchy half dollar signal but it was only good one direction, all other directions were bad, jumpy and almost impossible to pinpoint. I called Marty over and had him check it, he got the same thing. I said I can bet you this is not a half dollar....lol

well I dug it anyways.......and what do you know out popped a 1942 walker! Also in the hole was a chunk of iron and a fork laying RIGHT beside the half dollar, I think this is why everyone walked right over this signal and passed it up!

sure glad I decided to dig! Marty found a 1891 indian that was shot, kinda cool in my opinion but he was wishing it was NOT shot. Oh well.

I got the religious medal (aluminum) and that was the last thing I got there. So off to the park we went. I dug all deep pulltab signals hoping for a gold ring, and I found this braided ring about 6 inches deep, it rings up as a pulltab and sure looks like white gold and yellow gold braided together, no marking on it anywhere so I am unsure? Also got this bottle and the park where they was doing some digging. The cork is inside the bottle. The copper top slides on top. Don't know if it is very old or not?

Pretty good day, had a lot of fun, even without a lot of finds.

Very nice finds.... I'll have to remember this next time I get a mixed signal!!
You never know what might be lurking below!!
Congradulations on the nice recovery,

Nice finds G4e, Sometimes it pays off big time when you dig some of those iffy signals and this time it did, congrats

I broke down and bought a 43 walker for 10 bucks and I can't wait till i dig my first! I got permision this week to hunt a site where 3 20"s era houses used to be. The holding co. property manager was cool with it and said the property had been scarified and I don't know if that is goood or bad yet.

Congratulations on your finds! Good job. I have a comment about your bottle. I used to collect them when I was a kid. Cork top bottles made before 1900 were blown into a mold. You will see a seam that goes up the side of the bottle and stops near the bottom or middle of the neck. The top of the bottle was then applied separately, which causes the marks on the neck where the seam ends. You will often see twist marks and scars in the area of the neck of the bottle where the neck and top were applied to these bottles made before 1900. Cork top bottles were still made into the 1920's and 30's, but the glass blown styles had been replaced by machine made bottles, on those types you will see that the seam goes all the way up the side of the bottle and on the lip where the cork goes in. Those old hand blown bottles all have their own unique individual characteristis, such as bubbles, un-even bottoms, etc. The bottle's worth goes up when it has non-traditional colors such as blue, cobalt, purple, etc., especially when there are markings/lettering on the bottles. Happy Hunting! Mike

Nice big silver there Terry. I've never dug a silver half only clad but after watching your video I may have passed up a couple cause the sound wasn't too good.
