Dug a small tribe of indians today, and a bit of silver

Last nite we got a much needed 2 1/4 inches of rain....so I know exactly where I was going..door knocking!!!

Last year I knocked at this 1860's house and got turned down, but this spring he gave me permission for a field he owned where an old church used to stand. I hunted it this spring and while there I found a token that had the owners deceased mother's name on it, have been meaning to take it to him for a long time, was waiting for a good rain so I could ask again to hunt his yard.

Well today I knocked on his door and handed him the token and his eyes lit up, he was so happy I had found it and took it to him. So now was the time to ask to hunt his yard......he said "sure, don't see why not"!!!.......yes, sweet! Giving him the token worked perfect in my favor, It meant more to him than me anyhow.

Well in his yard I got 4 wheats, 1920 buffalo, 5 indians 1883, 1889, 1899, 1905 and 1906....small sterling ring, bird pin, 1950 dog tag, and a small crotal bell.....and only 4 clad coins, gotta love yards like that. While I was there his wife who said "NO" last year was bringing me out iced lemonade today. unreal they were like different people today.

When I was done I showed them all my finds and asked them if they wanted anything, I could tell she was eyeballing the crotal bell, I handed it to her and told her to keep it, she said "no I can't take it, you found it", I insisted she keep it and it seemed to make her day.

Amazing what kindness they showed me today after giving them that token......oh and that takes me to 101 injuns for the year!!

Hello,

Nice finds!!! What's your opinion on mding over moist ground versus dry? Does either condition provide an advantage over the other? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

jmt

I always love finding Indians! Nice finds and there has to be silver in that yard. Are you able to go back?

Personally, I have done extremely well during the hot, dry weather this summer.

in dry ground you almost NEVER get fooled by deep iron. I think silver absolutely screams out in dry ground....don't know why just seems to for me. I see absolutely no loss in depth in dry ground with the etrac....the main benefit to moist ground is it is 10x easier to dig and you don't kill the grass

and to Duke, yes they said I could come back, they had to leave today so I told them no problem and would finish on another day

Nice finds and story about hunting that yard Terry - I've been hitting Indians in the iron with this dry ground and liking it!

How many of us can say we were not only given permission to hunt...but we also got served iced lemonade by the homeowner!? lol. You are like the Dos Equis guy - The Most Interesting Man in the World.

Homeowners serve him lemonade when he hunts their yards.

Having him detect your yard is number one on your Bucket List.

His most common finds are on display in museums throughout the world.

Because he is simply The Most Interesting Detectorist in the World.

You are the man, Terry!

wow, don't know what to say about all that! :clapping: you sir are very creative!

Nice tribe of injuns. I wish my injuns looked like them. The ground in my area (Virginia) just eats them up. You must have some pretty neutral ground to dig in. I'm lucky to pull a date off of most of them. Found an injun today that will need to go in the coin tumbler to hopefully pull a date from.

If she still wouldn't take it, you could mention the "billion" other crotal bells you've unearthed.....:please:

Thanks for the pictures and congratulations on keeping the "ace in the hole" for your gain to another yard.

Neb I told her I had dug at least 20 this yr, so it was no big deal to me!

Prep, I use the stock coil 90% of the time

I see that a lil good well can go a long ways, WTG Terry.

Love those IH's and that sure is a nice Buff too

In 1979 my brother found a small cache of Indian's. However, none were in very good shape, pretty worn . So guess what he gives away when he gets/asks permission to hunt?? It has opened many a door.

Nice-looking finds especially the Indians, congratulations on breaking into the hundreds again on Indians :clapping:
