I dug this 100 pound U.S. Navy Parrott Bolt today.

My 6'2" digging buddy steps in the hole to show how deep it was. It took both of us to get it out of the hole.

It took me an hour to get it back to the truck. It was only about 300 yards, but it was through two creeks and all uphill. They need handles on these things.

Holy crap that's a huge parrot. Awesome find and big congrats on that one. Will you post a pic after it's cleaned up a bit?

I guess you found it with that DFX? What numbers did it come in at and how did you have your machine setup?
Also - what state are you in?

Uhhh.....as a Snowbird asked me once about mining gold with cyanide: "Ain't that kinda dangerous?"

Great find!!! We don't have any that old here in Arizona, only WWII vintage from Patton's training camps, but what happens if you ram a pick into one before you know what you have? I've heard stories about shells even that old exploding. I know I try to be extra careful on the old artillery ranges around here.

Seriously, I'm not trying to be a smart-***, just curious.

Marc

That detector you see in the background is a 16 year old White's Silver Eagle. It's a gem. If it had been on a DFX, the number would have been in the +30s. Big iron pushes into the positive range.
