frank and i headed out near the confederate lines at the haw's shop battlefield this morning. i said, "today's the day, frank. i can feel it in my bones." the sweat started pouring, and the finds were scarce, digging only a couple of bullets here and there. shotgun shells galore. walking out the woods heading toward the car, i got a nice hit on the tejon i couldn't refuse. out the ground came this nice c. 1812 - 1820 clip corner boxplate. three of the six hooks are there. and only 2" deep!

we took it to an old friend of ours who was more knowledgeable about plates, and he confirmed our thoughts on the plate. it was found near the confederate lines where we've dug many dropped and shot sharps, enfields, and flat buttons. i will swear that we've all walked across that same spot several times in the past and somehow missed it. it WAS the day after all!

thanks for looking, and good luck. hh!

Nice buckle and ain't it funny how we miss some great signals! I've done the same thing though no buckles! Congrats!
