Recently I`ve had a chance to use Dual Pro on the beach for three days in a raw x five hours a day (7.00 - 12.00 A.M)
I can compare now with my PI PRO. What can I say? Honest, I see no difference. Both machines are very good!! But I see no difference. As if I search with my PI PRO. More or less same finds, same digs. In three days of actively using Dual Field both on the sand (dry and wet, mostly black, highly mineralized and trashy) and chest deep in water I did not feel a difference enough to pay extra $300 if a person is on the budget. If $300 is not a big deal - it is a different story.
To say even more - I really felt one disadvantage of Dual Field vs my PI PRO with WEIGHTED coil - I had to push down the coil of DF constantly to keep it on the ocean bed. I cannot understand why White`s did not make or does not offer a weighted coil for DF. I felt its standard floating loop seriously uncomfortable.
I`d suggest to hold with buying DF until they offer a weighted coil.
Both machines - PI PRO and DF are very good. But for a person of my type, big strong athletic guy who considers MDing not for monetary reward but firstly as a healthy demanding physical exercise in fresh air and loves to dig ALOT with monstrous heavy scoop (bigger than Diamond) instead of going to an overcrowded air-conditionned gym. Coins or rings for me now matter very little. I am equally happy finding a cent or a beer cap or a pull tab - to be satisfied that I own a very smart machine that finds for me everything within the reach.
I also feel satisfied carring with me from the beach a big bag of glass, plastic and other ugly trash to throw in the garbage bin in the parking lot.
No leaks after searching chest deep under water for several hours during three days. After each day I opened the box to examine. No leaks, very germetic. Good!
No sand inside the coil cover, although I searched in black sand that is VERY fine.
If a person is about material value of his/her finds - probably PI`s are not for them. $1.80 clad is my best result so far with LOT of heavy physical work, however I feel HAPPY.
