Dual Field PI Going Nuts

Greetings fellow pirates,

On the last two trips to the surf my PI has become noisy, is giving me false signals and generally going nuts. I'm hunting an area that I'm very familiar with so it isn't anything like black sand or electrical interference. It still beeps going over a target, but all of the chatter is making it almost impossible to use. I tried changing the batteries, it didn't help.
