Dry lander going to Mexico with Ctx

I'm heading to Puerto Vallarta in a couple weeks and had a few CTX Questions for those that run em at the beach. Should I abandon my regular Ferrous Coin Combined mode and use the Beach Program? I usually run an open screen in the silver program and has worked for me here in Idaho well. I did a search here but didn't find much about tips and tricks to get the most out of the Ctx on the Beach. So I'm wondering what you beach gurus have settled on for settings and why? Is 50 conductive a better option?

I've been beach detecting for about a year and a half. Maybe about 400 hours on the beach. Which means, there are others with much more experience than I! I recommend posting this on the CTX 3030 Forum for more feedback.

My opinions:

The Beach discrimination pattern seems to work for me, but I try open screen sometimes to test a hit. Everything I dug up anyway (when outside the discrimination pattern) has been trash (Everything!). Now I just don't dig if outside the pattern.

I sometimes change up between High Trash and Ferrous Coin settings. Strange thing that i Don't understand when on the beach, is sometimes when in High Trash, I swing test a wedding band and there is no signal. When I go to Ferrous Coin, the signal is clear. (maybe some other CTX users know why??)

Recovery fast is good if there is a lot of trash.

Also, if on dry sand (and there isn't much trash), I like to select Recovery Deep. I found not to select Recovery Deep if in the surf because these targets are just too deep for me to recover.

Seawater-on, in my opinion is a must! If not selected, I get lots of chatter and false signals. (I usually detect at Virginia Beach.)

Hope this small bit of info is useful.
Mike

I'll be in Puerto Vallarta Feb 11-17 and detecting the beach in front of the Marriott Casa Magna. If you're in the area look for an old guy with an XP Deus.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will be there 18th through the 23rd, so I'll just miss you rjwalker . Would have been fun to meet you.. Looks like there will be some decent negative tides hopefully you score some nice finds. Post up a report if your so inclined. Can't wait to get out there and play in the sand. Mike thanks for the advice I'll put it to use and post up my finds. If there is good internet I'll do some updates while there.

Can you post a photo of a ring only FC finds? I have been avoiding FC because it shifts IDs of trash into good target numbers (hairpins) (so CA beaches)
