DRY LAKEBEDS/RESERVOIR HUNTING

Anyone have any experience in hunting these types of areas? Ive a couple of sites located which will be partially dry until the rainy season. Just wondering what to expect. I've done some riverbanks in 2 different areas and turned out to be really trashy.

I have done such hunting. It's easier (at least for me) to stay in the areas that isn't muddy or quicksand. Take a bug shovel. Flip up a shovel full. Check to see if you got it. Then kick the dirt apart. don't forget to fill your hole. This will definitely break an ankle. Set your iron disc where you want it and dig it all. PS. I never see much need to go out where the water were to have been over about 5 feet.

Thanks Kenny but what the heck is a bug shovel? Like a small trenching tool? Just been using my Lesche digger up til now.

Totally hilarious!! Thanks for your input. Ima check it out tomorrow.

Search your state and/county/town for "drained lake" "breached dam" "dry lake" "water level lowered" Stuff like that. You may find some more hunting areas. You might find a bug treasure.
bug ='s big.

An acquaintance of mine just went to a dried up lake bed but sank up to his knees in mud!
Scared the crap out of him Said he had to crawl back to safety. Glad I wasn't there!

I figured it was a typo on the shovel....but indeed a floral shovel is the way to go ..its smaller...drill a hole thru top and insert some twine and drag behind you...Would advise go with a buddy as always that sinkhole problem and one never knows..Set disc. low and dig all expect fishing lures, sinkers and junk but always a chance for jewelry and old coins if an old lakebed...
