Dry ground null?

HaroldILL.

Active member
I was wondering does your E-trac seem to null more in dry ground than wet? It seems mine doe's,Maybe due to the hot summer drying the ground more than usual? Thanks.

Will null more on iron/disced targets in dry soil and will false more in very moist soil.

All machines with audible threshold will "null" when passed over a discriminated target within its detecting range. Many folks coming from silent search machines find this disturbing but those silent search machines like say many of the Fishers react the same way you just do not hear it except for pops and crackles some times.

The null is your friend as it lets you know to slow down when passing over lots of disced out targets. The silent search/threshold machines do not give you such a indication and you just swing blindly along often times unaware of the need to slow down for heavy trash.

If you can stand the noise, open up your pattern a little more or hunt with a Quick Mask open screen. That will decrease or eliminate the nulls, but you'll need to really slow down. You can also try TTF.
