drummer's badge

Hello, can anyone identify this object? I think it is some type of drummer's badge. It is approximately 2 inches high and 1.75 inches across. I believe it is made from copper and I and would like to find out its age and value. Thank-you for your help.

It has age to it. May date the CW but not a military issue. It is however made of brass, not copper. The green patina is from the copper leaching to the surface. Copper is used to make brass. Nice find, David

Thank-you CSA GHOST for your response and input. I found a colonial button about an inch and three eights diameter approximately 15 yards away from it. Anyway I think its a neat relic. Ezra

Nice relic bud. I agree with ghost..not military issue but still a super find

Forgot to mention: it is possible an item purchased by the owner either from a Sutler or via the newspaper. During the civil war, it was common to have Sutler's (mobile store owners) to be attached to a Reg't or Company. Harper's Weekly was the Union paper and it was full of advert's much like today. Again, it's a nice find and maybe at some point you'll find a circa date. Good hunting!
