Drought, Drought. Drought

As most of you folks living on the east coast, or southern states know, we have had record drought. Now, according to the weather "experts", this is likely to continue into next year. Do any of you folks in these affected areas dig in this hard, dry ground? Where I hunt, even in the woods, is almost impossible. It just doesn't seem to want to "let up". My Tesoros are collecting dust, along with everything else........

I'm in Alabama and I've been digging in this hard ground, off and on all summer and yes its real tough. Fortunately, we've recently received some rain and I was out a couple days ago and the ground is getting better. Just hope we keep getting some moisture this month.

Got to have everything from a variety of trowels, variety of shovels, picks, fireman break tools, saws, all the way to a variety hammers and chisels - whatever it takes to get the job done short of gas/diesel/electric power and explosives.
Use when/where necessary...

a park, we ended up watching the girls play soccer. We stood on the side and watched, so the hunt was short but the game was nice and there were some soccer mommies - well can digging come to mind

Thanks for the posts. Wish there were some soccer moms where I dig, but it's only cows. My main concern about digging in hard ground is damaging an item when excavating. I'd hate like hell to ruin a good buckle or button.
