Dr Tones at the beach video

Now THAT is what I need to see! Just using it and finding what he’s finding...to ME that is an absolutely “honest usage video” of something I may consider buying. Even without the GoPro...well done!! I’m hoping ALL of the following information will be JUST like this, because THAT IS REALITY,the good ,bad, and ugly! Thanks Brandon! I’m pretty jealous of that gorgeous scenery and environment too!:)
Thanks Squirrel!

only watched till he got off the wet sand was chatty, dry sand just another detector, not getting me excited.

Well I am not sure about what type of sand Hawaii has but this is little scary. I sure didn't like all that chatter!!!! Now does Hawaii have more black sand than the Carolina's???? Hopefully someone can chime in lets us know.

I havent had the chance to hunt there (yet!) but I have read from others who call it a worst case scenario for beach hunting. Lots of detectors are unusable and many others have to be seriously de-tuned to be usable. second hand info, so take that for what its worth.

I have read from a tester who said he has tried his in the surf and it was completely stable, even near maxed out sensitivity. different units? different software versions? definitely different beaches.

I have hunted Hawaii beaches multiple times...big island and Maui. Highly mineralized, black sand beaches from volcanoes. The high mineralization may not even be apparent or observable...i.e., sand not black. My Whites dual field pulse machine struggled on beaches there, even on the dry sand. The CTX 3030 will recommend single digit sensitivity and even overload in some areas (lava rocks) if you try to run too hot. The chatter in the wet sand wouldn't bother me on a beach there due to the conditions. Actually, I thought it ran pretty stable given the location. I have detected beaches on both coasts of the U.S., Hawaii, Mexico and Central America. Hawaii and Central America were the most challenging by far. Personally, I would have lowered the sensitivity, he was running hot at 21. Also, I run a slight threshold, preferably smooth. There is another video out where Neil Jones buries a deep coin in the wet sand and sweeps his coil through the saltwater...it ran stable and hit the coin no problem. Not sure if I can post link.

There are volcanoes in/near Hawaii.

Not too many in/ near Florida for example.

No volcanoes in Florida but plenty of sinkholes! Be careful about those holes you dig!

think he was scouting for a new go pro more than a detecting video .

The Equinox battery is spent, and he probably left the charging cable in Idaho:cry:. I wonder if the GoPro fell off his drone gimble...

As an East coast beach hunter, didn't really get much out of this video. There will be plenty more in the near future.

I think Joe (ole beach nut) once said..... take me out of the bay and its all new to me..... i have to learn how to hunt it. That wasnt enough time to give me much..... he needed to adjusted it properly (not HOT) and be a bit more.... serious.

I did not like what I saw. I did not see anything stable. It struggled even in the dry sand it appeared. Would have been better off not airing the video, but certainly glad they did. Ask yourself this. Why hasn't Drayton shot a video? How hard would that be? I'm certainly sure they would give him one. Maybe he has one and things are not favorable. On another note, how do you loose a go pro on the beach?

"Thanks for doing that video Brandon! Some beautiful scenery...I would've been jealous but I'm heading to Florida in a couple days!!!

Losing your 'GoPro' camera was a blow as I'm thinking it contained the brunt of your beach detecting and you were trying to make up for it by shooting something on your last day perhaps?
If that was the case it's a bit like an archaeological dilemma as it's an unrepeatable experiment! You cannot replicate or reproduce what happened before losing the camera?
You cannot show us! Such a pity.
I know how you feel as two cameras went bad on me in a week!!! Both DV camcorders, and I've been shooting on a hard drive cam ever since (as well as a GoPro)

The footage I saw was enough to show me, that it's no magic wand as I am certain others perceive it will be?
Not so. You'll have to learn 'how to drive it' and interpret the audio which was both 'good' and 'dirty' in the short video.
Not to mention how to use the different frequencies and trying to interpret the meter?
It was so like a blend of an 'X-Terra' and an 'E Trac' with super 'GoFind' pin pointing audio!!!"
