down in the dumps!!

Hooray I got my new ctx yesterday afternoon, boy I couldn't tear the box away fast enough! I found the manuel and proceeded to put it together. I then pushed the start button and it would play music for about 4 seconds and then shut down. I repeated this many times. I put new batteries in the one battery pack, but still the same thing. I tried the lithium battery pack but all it would do was make a short squell, lol. I got on computer and found some guys talking about their ctx's shutting down intermittently, I got a web site to go to to download a program off minelab that supposedly fixed their problem. But I had to register as a new member and since its Saturday I'm out of luck. Now here's the problem, I'm not very funtional with a computer ,although I do know what a USB cord is, I will have to travel 150 miles to get one of my boys to download from computer to my ctx. Ok, I've about run out of air, anyone have a suggestion?

Make sure you charge the batteries overnight if still no go reset the machine then i don't know.

I haven't the slightest ideal about what to tell you to do other than I think the first thing I'd do is call my supplier. I know w/o question my dealer would have another one in the mail before days end. I think I'd try that if surf's suggestion didn't work.

Keep us updated as to how it goes.
Don.....

Has your lithium battery completely charged? Try new alkaline batteries making sure they are in correctly. Hold power button down until reset message comes on. If you have installed Exchange 2 hook up the USB cord to your detector and your computer. Follow the instructions for the latest upgrade. If I can do it anybody can. Hopefully something will work for you. If not call 1-877-767-6522 on Monday and ask for Bryan. Good luck and HH :minelab:

My ctx has been gone for 26 days now with a faulty pinpoint trigger. I went and purchased a new etrac to cover all the downtime I believe I will be having with this very unreliable detector in my opinion, I love the ctx when its working Dont get me wrong, key words being " when its working"

Hey thanks for all the imput guys but I did figure it out, and I'm not going to tell anyone. lol Because then I would go from a guy that looked good to a stupid s.o.b.lol

we all look stupid sometimes but if you let it be known what you did you might save someone else from haveing the same problem and maybe even sending their machine back...

Most of the problems I have had with any detector has been Operator Error. Enjoy your CTX 3030 and you will be greatly rewarded. HH :minelab:

Get serious, you come on the forum asking for help because you're freaking out over the machine not working, then discover the problem and won't share which could help someone else making the same mistake. That what these forums are all about, to help others. You are worried about looking like a simpleton because it was an obvious operator error but yet, it is a very short list of those who haven't been there and done that.

Yep, your right, I've got to admit it, I did'nt get my cable wires tightened down. That cured the problem so now she's on an funtioning perfect.

Glad to hear you're up and running. Really frustrating when you get a new machine, especially an expensive one, and it isn't working right. You're not the first and won't be the last to miss the obvious that causes a problem. Heck, I've seen where some just put the batteries in wrong. Coils wires can loosen through use too.

Most of us have been in the same or similar situation at one time or another. Now that you are up and running, be sure to post some of those finds as I am sure will start coming soon. We all love to see them.

Thanks for the mild comeback guys, sorry about the way I first came back, I was just embarrased more than mad and didnt want to admit I had goofed up. Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. Thanks for understanding.
