Doves Revisited.......

I won't bore you with more "dove" pics...But thought I'd give you all an update. (for those who haven't heard or "seen", check the earlier posts).
I just thought it was worth mentioning that the last family of doves raised the brood and they flew the coop!
As you may recall my wife, Karen, places a wreath over the light on the deck each year and the birds build their nest and raise their young on top of it....This year the robins raised a brood early in the spring and they grew up and flew off. A pair of doves then rebuilt, nested, and raised their family and flew off, too. (pics below in another post)
Last week another pair of doves "remodeled" the nest and Momma laid her eggs and both Momma and Papa are again taking turns sitting on the nest. I really didn't expect another family for us to have to help.
As mentioned in my earlier post, doves mate for life and take turns nesting and nurturing. We had a difficult time figuring out "who was who" last time...But this pair are very "distinct"..The mother has a thinner head and a distinct little white spot on her forehead just above her beak....It seems that Papa sits on the nest at night till morn and Mama Dove comes on shift during the day!
Actually, I'm gettin' a little weary of all this bird birthing! I'd like to get my deck back sometime. Actually, the doves are no problem, they are not the least bit skittish and we can get right up close and personal with them without any fear of them flying off. (unlike the robins)
I'm just concerned about what's next!? This place is a regular "bird magnet"!! Next, we may have a couple bald eagles or even rabbits up there!
Just thought I'd share the news! Take care, Doug

Thanks for the update Doug. I can relate as we had doves also that would nest in a hanging fern plant we had hanging under the gutters on the back porch.
Your doves must be smarter than mine (these here iz Florida dumb doves) because they tried to get it together a few times but when it would rain down here the gutter would overflow and wash out the plant, the nest and eggs as well. We slowly moved the plant, and got that brood off but the plant died from lack of water. Then we remembered why we chose that particular spot to place the plant
