i put this planter on the side of a shed i built(?) lol...and lo and behold doves decided to nest in it.....ill try to catch momma dove when she is in the nest

doves like our yard.....they are safe

i have probably 7 bird feeders in our yard we buy the 40lbs bags from Costco....it does last a while...this is for mainly the sparrows....we have one bird feeder for larger birds (blue jays) that i keep filled up with sunflower seeds and two humming bird feeders ...i like it because its LOW maintenance and no mess to speak of:thumbup:

Not much of a picture, but this is my bird feeder, I went to Home Depot and bought a one gallon bucket and lid and a 5 gallon bucket lid,
and used a small hole saw to make the holes..
We have to fill it every day or two.
What ends up on the ground, the ground feeders take care of..
Our birds like the Sunflower seeds best,, we tried the mix, these birds are picky..

Do your birds ever say thanks or leave any money ???
Bj

WHen the hummingbird feeders are empty and we happened to be in the area, they tend to BUZZZ us. I guess its "hey where is my food!"
The ones that get the mix stuff tend to be fussy, they will scatter teh seeds all over the place to get to the good stuff.

That was the problem that we had with the mixed seed..
Late Oct. or early Nov. we had a Hummingbird show up on our feeder,,, that was a hungry bird,
I don't think he made it South for the winter..

I hope that a cat doesn't find out about the nest. Thanks for sharing. Kelley (Texas) :)

we have about a half acre lot ....and in fact we have TWO cats that are always hungry so they hang aroud near their plate under the car port.....the doves are on the side of the house which is somewhat isolated.and about 6ft off the ground
They are safe.
