Today we went to a small piece of property that my brother (Hotrod53) has been eyeballing for a little while. He noticed that they were tearing down an old house and the guy told him as soon as they get the equipment out of there that we were free to detect the property. The guy told him "you can go, but you probably won't find anything". We like those kind of challanges!
WIthin about 10 minutes Hotrod53 pulls up a silver, then another, then a third, all out of the same hole. At that point I only had a wheat.
I started out wth the 6" Coiltek coil and once I realized it wasn't very trashy over on the side that I was detecting, I swapped it out for the 10.5 MF Minelab coil so that I could cover more ground. After detecting about 15' with the 10.5" coil I had a nice 40-42 signal. I was down about Pro Pointer deep and out came a 1891 seated dime! I yelled over "I guess you're pretty tough today with your three silvers". As I started walking over his way he said "I guess not", knowing that I must have had something good in my hand. We're not competitive but between myself, him and our Mom, we all seem to get our turn with good finds either by year or quantity so we like to have fun back and forth with each other.
I eventually found an 1949 and a 1954 Rosey. Besides some clad, I came out with a couple of wheats, a dog license and a junk jewelry pendant with some kind of writing on it. I haven't cleaned that stuff up yet.
Hotrod53 did a lot better than me with the wheats today. Maybe he'll chime in with his finds once he gets home and cleans his stuff up.
