Double ring return followed by a great hunt with a rare find for us.

The Fourth of July was a busy day for team Dirt Fishin America. We received a call from a good friend of ours who lost two sentimental rings in her back yard. One gold and one silver. It took some doin but we managed to save face and turned up both rings in a little under an hour. Dirt Digler and I had some spare time to goof off so we started cruising around looking for a place to hunt. We ended up at a house that was built in 1900. The easements were torn up so we figured this might be a great spot seeing how I did very well in the front yard about a year ago. Dirt called me over to check something out. So I ran over there and he says "I'm sorry dude... I'm really sorry" and I'm like "whaaah??" Just then he opens his hand and shows me his freshly dug 1890 seated liberty dime. Now... Believe it or not... I've never found a seated coin and its been on my list for several years. I rarely get a chance to hunt more than a few miles away from home and my area just isn't very old. Oddly enough I've found just about every other coin but I just haven't landed that seated. I really wasn't mad. Maybe a little jealous or frustrated but I really was happy for him. So we were also filming this whole fiasco and ol Dirt Digler must have got a little caught up in the moment because he forgot to re-scan his hole. So a few minutes later I come along and poach his area looking for missed coins. Well wouldn't you know... A sweet high tone right smack dab in the middle of that dummies hole. Man I wish you could have seen his face... Oh... Wait... You will... It's all on film  so I fully anticipate pulling out my first seated. I dig down... I spot it... It's silver and its round...it's dime size but its dirty. I pop it in my mouth and cross my fingers. I spit the coin out aaaaaaaaaaaaand... 1898 10 cent canadian  a find I would usually be stoked to find. I was disappointed but a little satisfied that I saved it from being found by that seated dime thief Dirt Digler. Stay tuned for some vids (if I ever get time to edit them) hope everyone had a great fourth. Happy hunting!

Great story!!! I am hoping to get a seated one day as well!!

Brandon, very nice hunt, and a very happy young lady. The seated will pop when you least expect it, keep the faith.

Very nice in any event. I've been lookin for a 3 cent for 15 years

I had to wait 43 years to pop my first seated dime 1875cc found last year ctx. I hope you don't have to wait that long . sube

Wow! Well if you're gonna find one I guess you might as well shoot for the cc! Still waiting on my III center too.

Brandon and I definitely shared a look of disgust on that 4th of July hunt. You had an interesting look on your face when I showed you the seated. And if my face even half showed what I was feeling on the inside after getting caught up in the find and failing to rescan my hole I'm sure I look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame...

We made some great finds though! And after the first 10 seconds of disgust after realizing what a boneheaded move I had made...I was REALLY hoping that silver I left was gonna be a seated. There wouldn't have been anything cooler than both of us popping a seated the same day!

Haha! I might have played it up just a little bit :crylol: great day of hunting though!

Great story with a great ending!! I know the feeling it took me forever to pop my first seated.
