Five years ago, I was about to throw out all the parts to my US divers Royal Aquamaster that I bought in 1973. This was a balanced two stage regulator for which parts had not been available for over 30m years. I did a google search on the regulator and up popped a site which manufactures New parts for these old double hose regulators. In fact the engineers on the site redesigned the old high pressure valve to accommodate three low pressure and three hi pressure outlets as well as design the internals so the new HP valve uses the same guts as the Titan regulator. New silicone hoses, Duckbills and Diaphragms and my old Royal Aquamaster has been reborn as a Phoenix Royal Aquamaster. It breathes easier than my 800 dollar single hose regulator and all my bubbles are behind me.
if you are a treasure Hunter, you need to try the double hose regs. They are a true demand regulator, and they breath different, than a single hose, But at extreme work, I have never been in a situation where i was out breathing the reg. Most single hose regs have a diaphragm which is approx 1 to 1l,.4 inches in diameter. The double hose uses a 4 inch diameter diaphragm. The single hose usually has a Intermediate pressure of 160 Psi. With the new Phoenix nozzles, the double hose has a IP of 150-165 PSI. They are stable deliver good air, and its nice not to have the vision obscured. But if you elect to try a double hose, make sure you get checked out by someone that was extensive experience with them. Its a must.
