Found this in a Postenkill NY corn field with a Garrett AT PRO
My first dig,First time out.
Dose anyone Know what this is?

Pre CW. I think.

i found a double gilt flat button as seen in this pick, a couple of weeks ago. some of the members gave me a history lesson and i also googled it. there are single, double and triple gilt buttons. the numerics indicate how many times the button was dipped in a gold solution. the higher class--3x dip.

my double gilt button is market with a date--171?. the last number is worn, but with a jewerlers loop--it looks like 1712.

thanks for sharing your picture.
