double D vs 8 inch coil

when do I use the D instead of the 8 inch and vise versa. And what is the advantage of one over the other.
this is on a F4 if that helps
 
I would say the DD coil would be ideal to cover more ground. Personally I use the 8" mostly now days, but if I was going to hunt a field or cover a large open area, I will switch to the DD.

I think the DD has a bit more depth but I have not personally verified it.

I like the greater coverage but don't like the beercap response resembling quarters. (never could correct that mentally)

I mainly use the 8" for turf but when beach season returns will use the DD more.
