Double 1905 Heads Yesterday And Other Goodies!

Got out again yesterday and did well was a little disapointed didnt find any silver but 2 indian heads are just as good! The place I was hunting was a very large toc home with a larger yard and there was alot of newer coinage in the yard. I was suprised to find two of the same dated indian heads in the yard which were 1905s. I also found two wheaties 4 new quarters 8 newer dimes 1 bahamas ten cent coin 1 charm that looks to be silver-1 nickle 1 copper bracelet and alot of newer pennies. I will be going back to the same area today if the rain lets up which we needed very badly. I have only hunted about half of the yard. If I keep doing as well as I have been the Mxt will pay for itself in no time.(But from the fun I have already had it has paid for itself!)

Great finds and as always.......I love to see those Indian cents come out of the ground. I bet there's silver in that yard. Get the surface coinage and you'll be getting to that silver and other misc. old finds. HH, Nancy

Nice finds, congrats! I have yet to pay for my mxt pro, and I keep adding to the cost. I just spent another $175 on a D2 coil but its all about the fun anyways! I have nearly $1200 total with 4 coils and a DX-1 in my inventory so it will take alot of goodies to pay off financially.
My better finds so far include...

1903-s Half Dollar,
1963 Quarter,
Several barber dimes including a 1900-o (key date),
Several silver Rosies,
Several IH Cents,
Tons(ok, dozens) of Wheaties
1828 Large Cent(Matron Head),
Sterling silver ring.

My lesser finds probably "add up" to alot more value considering all the clad. I toss it all in seperate jars to count some day. Its been crazy DRY here in Missouri for a couple weeks now. Its just starting to sprinkle today so hopefully the cracks in the ground squeeze back together so I can dig soon!

[size=large]very nice total for the hunt. what coil are you using? are you running ful out? that is +1-+3 gain or holding down the sensitivity? you mentioned much needed rain. what part of the country are you jn and how is your soil conditions? and last but not least, could ya say what vdi the nickel came up? sounded like there's going to be some great hunting in that yard but also sounded like some cherry picking went on before the newer coins where dropped. lack of older Qtrs. or dimes. hopefully the reason will be they were covered and blocked by new stuff.

I live in southern Iowa and we have been terribly dry the last 3 weeks thankfully we recieved almost an inch of rain last night. I am using the 300 LTD coil that came with the machine and am using a combination gain when I hunt I start out using presets and after getting the easier signals or what you would call cherry picking I turn the gain up to the +1 or +2 setting +3 makes the signal to choppy.Soil conditions differ here depending on where I am hunting. The old yards I hunt tend to have alot of cinders or hot rocks but it also depends on the yard. Most front yard areas are free from alot of the cinders but the back yards are where most where dumped in the early days. The nickles I have found hit solidly in the 20 range unless it is a buffalo and they have hit in the 18 range and as for cherry picking in this area I have a story for you. When I was a young man of about 10 years old I seen an older gentleman swinging a machine in a local park. I was curious what this man was doing so I approached him(I remember this like it was yesterday and it was almost 40 years ago} I asked him what he was doing and he said he was looking for coins. I followed this guy around in the park for at least an hour and he let me help him dig coins. The man then asked me If I wanted to try the machine and that was my start in the metal detecting hobby and one of the best friendships a person could ever have. The mans name was Ray and he became like a GrandFather to me we spent many years detecting together and found thousands of coins numerous rings tokens and other items. I lost this dear person three years ago he was 92 years old and had a collection of items only most people dream of. Alot of the areas we hunted together I have went back to as the machines have gotten better and am still finding coins!

WOW Two Indians in one hunt... WTG
I did that once.... but mine came out of a TotLot..
Those old coins are hard to come by for me, but every once in awhile I get lucky and reel in a lunker.
I know what you mean.. wanting to have that MTX pay for its self.
I keep adding to mine and never quite catch up...
Great hunt... Congrats
